Before the music dies.
As many have already said, despite new technology taking over the music industry lately, from production to distribution, we are going back to primitive times. “Before The Music Dies”, a documentary about the current troubles the music industry faces, tells you why and how.
To make it short : minute-made throwaway celebrities are on the way out, and they are mostly for the very reasons that caused them to emerge. The greed and hunger for profit, here and now and again, so typical of the outrageous mercantile, über-capitalist logic which held down real and enduring talent for years, is coming to an end. These principles, it turns out, were the bases for an unsustainable, precarious business.
These ideas are not ours, but rather those of Branford Marsalis and Dave Matthews. While “Before The Music Dies…” will indeed stop you from doing a little bit more of « anything else » for 1 hour and 20 minutes, it will help you to understand just how sick this industry is.
G.I. Joe said it best: “Knowing is half the battle”. A certain Charles Darwin supported that theory too. Maybe you should watch “Before The Music Dies”, after all. If these guys agree, it can’t be wrong, can it ?
