Taxi Nouveau

BIOGRAPHIETaxi Nouveau hails from Montreal with an armada of Gameboys and other old videogames consoles to create a very unique brand of music. His electro-grime, all in 8bit fashion, is making Montreal stomp it’s feet and dance to the bleeps more than ever lately. With only a laptop and modified electronics, ranging from the aforementioned Gameboy to hacked Christmas cards, he creates a big surprise by being both innovative and brash, yet funky and festive. His live shows generally feature visual works from Françis Théberge, member of This is not design (TIND), a collective creating visual arts with, you guessed it, old videogames consoles. Ever since 2004, Taxi Nouveau has been showcased in many places, including the Arcadia Festival, Fantasia, Mix Sessions, the OFF in Quebec city and many other electronic arts events. He also played at Toy Company, the first Montreal-based 8bit music event. In last June, he brought his chiptunes to Pulsewave, in New-York (www.pulsewavenyc.com). Pulsewave is the big happening, the gathering of 8bit artists, where such pioneers as Bubblyfish, Nullsleep, Bit Shifter and many more perform. To gain recognition there is not only nice; it’s also a way to becoming a legend in the genre. |
